Place both hands on the attacker’s jaw and push upwards into his face to tilt the head back, creating maximum disorientation. This will force him to bend downwards to retain balance. Land an elbow strike or palm chop to the point where his jaw and ear meet. This can cause the attacker to faint.

In this article, we will be discussing another great technique that you can use to escape an attacker who has grabbed you from the front. The front grab is one of the most common ways an attacker approaches a victim. Attackers employ it as a way to intimidate you and hold you in place for a punch or the next attack they plan to throw at you.

This means that you have limited time to try any moves you want to, before the situation escalates out of hand. With this in mind, let’s look at the most effective moves to handle this threat. First and most importantly, do not PANIC! Stabilise yourself with strong legs to ensure a powerful blow and keep breathing calmly.

Next, place both your hands on the attacker’s jaw and push your hands upwards into his face to tilt the head back and create maximum disorientation. This will force your attacker to bend downward to maintain balance. Take this chance to follow up your counter attack with a palm chop or elbow strike to the point where his jaw and ear meets.

An attack on this area is fatal and capable of causing the attacker to faint. Giving you that split-second you need to flee the scene and get yourself some help. Make sure you practise these moves daily with a willing partner or in front of a mirror, so you don’t panic and/or freeze when this happens in real life.
