The first routine involves a cross jab, dodge and a superman punch. The next locks an incoming roundhouse kick, countering with an elbow strike and ending with a spinning rotational elbow. Finally, the striker uses diagonal step-out footwork to dodge a thrust kick, and attacks with a 45-degree uppercut punch and an angle kick.

You’ve now arrived at Combination 8 of Muay Thai Pad Work fight training. It comprises techniques 21-23 which will be detailed below.

Technique 21 – Punch, Dodge and Superman Punch

This involves the striker starting the attack with a cross jab. At the same time, he anticipates and sweeps the opponent’s cross jab and jab, dodging from the outside. To finish up, the striker leaps into the air and lands a decisive superman punch, in some cases knocking out the opponent.

Technique 22 – Lock Kick and Elbow Attack

The striker uses the walk-side footwork to catch and lock an incoming roundhouse kick. He then uses the walk-across footwork to deliver a downward elbow strike to the midsection of the opponent’s thigh. This same footwork propels him forward with a spinning rotational elbow to the opponent’s face, a clean finish to the move.

Technique 23 – Salab Fan Pla, Punch and Kick

In this technique, the striker uses the Salab Fan Pla or diagonal step-out footwork to dodge the opponent’s rear leg thrust kick. At the same time, he attacks with a 45-degree uppercut punch from the lead hand. To finish the routine, he releases a rear leg angle kick aimed at the attacker’s body.
