In the first technique, the striker attacks with a side elbow and an uppercut elbow. He then releases a second side elbow, and finishes off with a low kick. The next one kicks off with four consecutive elbow strikes! It is wrapped up with a knee strike. The final one involves a cross downward elbow attack combined with a reverse side elbow strike.
Seasoned Muay Thai fighter and 3-time bronze winner in the world championships, Kru Hemanth Kumar has also perfected Self-Defence techniques targeting vulnerable pressure points. He has spent three decades teaching and training in multiple styles of Muay Thai.
All that reading so far has surely introduced you to several interesting moves and techniques. This post continues where we left off, covering Pad Work Combination 9. Its three techniques are detailed below and one thing you’ll notice right away is that elbows form the main weapon in this combination.
This involves the striker attacking with a rear hand side elbow, followed by a lead hand cross uppercut elbow. He then releases a second rear hand side elbow and pushes the opponent to create some distance between them. Once in position, he finishes off with a powerful low kick.
This starts off with the striker delivering four cross uppercut elbows. That’s right, four consecutive elbow strikes! On the fourth rep, he leverages the walk-across footwork to attack and finish with a knee strike. The four elbows usually tend to weaken the opponent, priming him for that final knee strike.
Here, the striker uses the walk-across footwork to deliver a cross downward elbow attack. This is combined with a reverse side elbow strike and vice-versa.
That completes Combination 9 in Pad Work. The upcoming post will be the last in this series and completes your Muay Thai fight training with Kru Hemanth Kumar. Keep reading till the end.
